Requesting an Online Filer PIN

Business owners and authorized employees can request an “Online Filer PIN” by electronically filing Form 94x PIN Request.  The request is a one-page form that is e-filed – by itself – with the IRS.

Once accepted, eFile Express will send you an email receipt that the IRS has received and is processing the PIN request.  (Note that the IRS can take up to 45 days to issue the PIN.)

The PIN will be mailed to the authorized signer that you indicated on the request. For security reasons, the authorized signer will need to activate the PIN once it is received. Activation is accomplished by signing the "Statement of Receipt" that is included with the PIN and mailing it back to the IRS within 10 business days.

Once activated, the PIN can be used to sign all 94x returns for the organization.

Note: An organization may have only one active Online PIN. By requesting a new Online PIN, you will invalidate any previously-issued PIN.
